Services

Listed below are the services F3DP currently offers. This list will continue to expand in the future, so if there is something that is not listed that you feel falls within the realm of our expertise, please feel free to reach out and we will do our best to assist you.

3D Printing:

  • Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM): The most common form of 3D printing available, FDM works by fusing 2D layers of melted thermoplastic together until the part is complete. This type of 3D printing is great for creating dimensionally accurate parts out of a large selection of materials. These materials can be selected based on cost or the properties desired (heat resistance, impact resistance, flexibility, etc.). The resulting parts have a textured finish that might not be desirable for certain applications, however there are various post-processing methods for addressing this.

    • Best for: prototypes, mechanical applications, outdoor applications, large scale applications, large volume production

  • SLA Printing: Due to it recently becoming available to the hobbyist community, resin printing is growing in popularity. SLA printing works by lowering a build plate into a vat filled with a photosensitive resin. The vat has a clear bottom that allows for UV light to pass through it, curing a thin layer of resin that represents a 2D slice of the part to the build plate. The build plate is then lifted slightly, and the process repeats until the part is completed. This type of 3D printing produces a finish that requires little to no post-processing. However, the variety of materials available and the limitations created by a relatively small build volume can make this type of printing not suitable for certain applications.

    • Best for: minifigures, tabletop game pieces, concept visualization

3D Modeling/CAD:

  • Here at F3DP we also offer parametric 3D modeling services. Provided with a blueprint, a rough "napkin" sketch, or even just a detailed explanation of the desired part or assembly, we can produce usable 3D models. We will work closely with you during the design phase to make sure we capture your requirements, while also providing valuable feedback on considerations for production.

Consulting:

  • Maybe you are not ready to commit to having your part 3D printed, or maybe you own your own 3D printer and just need some help with materials. Whatever the case, we are here for you! Just give us a call or fill out the contact form here on our website and we can set up an appointment where we will do our best to answer any questions you have and provide the proper guidance to get you to the next step.
